Bog Oak Goddess Pendant
We are pleased to say that the September Collection of Bog Oak Goddess Pendants is now available. This is a unique set of 12 Goddesses that Jules has been working on in his Moorland workshop.
These are bespoke, one of a kind Goddess pendants hand carved from ancient Irish Bog Oak by my Partner Jules Varnedoe.
They hold the power of deep time, offer gateways into navigating the themes of Life, Death and Rebirth and connect you into the ancient beauty of this wild Earth.
Here are his words of reflection on these sacred adornments;
‘Made from the trees that graced the forests wild West Ireland thousands of years ago, this wood fell into the wet, peaty bog soil, where it was preserved and slowly turned black by the mineral rich waters over millenia - until excavation in recent years.
There is a tradition of ‘peat cutting’ in rural Ireland, where people cut through the bog to make cakes of peat for drying and heating their homes. This practice often uncovers remnants of a prehistoric world that have laid buried in the peat. The wood that went into these pendants was brought to the surface through this old way.
These pendants evoke the prehistoric Venus figurines found all over the ancient world, and speak to a time when feminine magic was known and revered.
These forms, carved from a material that has literally survived as a thread to that ancient past, hold the wearer in old knowing today.’
I am in awe of the beauty of bog and how Jules has crafted such unusual, beautiful and ancient forms.
May this offering revere the ancient and vital Goddess of All.
We randomly select one goddess from the collection for each order, so you won't be able to choose a specific one. We do this to create a sense of mystery and spiritual significance, with the idea that the goddess you receive is the one meant for you.
