Hope is a Red Thread

£50.00 - £333.00

And so it is that this world offers us magic.

Held within our laps —

a lake of still force.

We form from the formlessness,

dark strandsfrom gentle caves.

We are tethered forever by a spun umbilicus of gold,

and yarrow, and healed pain,

to the roots of our Grandmothers.

“Hope is a Red Thread” is a poem featured in the collaborative book The Wheel, published by Tended Hearth.

The Art of Womb Wrap Weaving

To weave a womb wrap is a sacred act —

an act of remembrance.

It is a journey made in reverence to your body and to the Earth.

Through the ancient crafts of spinning, weaving, and natural dyeing, we honour our earth-bodies and deepen into our inner wisdom and connection with this animate life.

Our Weekend of Womb Wrap Weaving will be held in the Bridgetown Community Yurt, near Totnes, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th January 2026.

Together we will explore the arts of medicinal dye, drop spinning, warping, weaving, and adornment.

You will create your own Womb Wrap using both your hand-spun and my naturally plant-dyed yarns — in a circle of six women, held throughout by hearth fire, plant kin, and thread magic.

We will co-create a medicinal dye bath and craft a bespoke Red Thread to weave into our pieces on Sunday.

This is an invitation to connect with the spirit of the womb, the potency of blood, the wisdom of ancestry, and the honouring of all life.

This spiral dance offers us a chance to be witnessed in circle, to share our heart’s intentions, and to be held by the Land — alongside the eight bee hives who dwell opposite the yurt.

Throughout the weekend, folk wisdom will be shared around herbs that support connection to the womb space, along with homemade balms and oils for anointing.

Who is this for?

This weekend is open to all women.

Wherever you are in your life’s journey — whether you bleed or not, and whether you have a physical womb or not — this is a potent opportunity to honour this sacred space within your body and your vessel as a whole.

Creating and wearing a womb wrap is a tradition seen across cultures around the world, though it has been nearly lost in many Western countries.

The physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits are vast and varied — from keeping the womb warm and supporting postpartum healing, to aligning posture and protecting the energetic womb space.

A womb wrap can also mark transitions, initiations, and transformations in life — a radical act of love and devotion to oneself.
