Weavers tool kit: Fire & Water
Fire
Water
Earth
Air
& Ether.
These are the elements that shape us, and that alchemise together to create Cloth- a thread into ancestry, time and deep earth connection.
I’m so pleased to offer this bespoke collection of yarns in a one-off series of only 4 Weavers Tool kits.
This set of tools includes a hand crafted Devon Oak loom and needle alongside natural dyes and speciality yarns, all held within a cotton drawstring craft bag and made by my Partner, Jules, and I in our Dartmoor home.
Every few weeks Jules and I are aiming to curate and create a small collection of looms, needles and yarns in keeping with what is inspiring us at the time.
This simple starter Weavers kit has been refined over the last few months, and it continues to be a joy to witness people’s first cloth emerging, as well as more seasoned weavers working with it in the landscape around them.
As a Folk Herbalist I am in deep relationship with the plants around me. This ripples out into my natural dye process alongside my Balm and Medicine Making. I recently created a small batch of 8 ‘Moon Touch’ Womb Balms to offer soothing, nurture and honouring to the womb space. Working with organic Calendula, Rosemary and Rose, Beeswax, Almond oil, coconut oil and Shea Butter- this Balm is so smooth and gentle on the skin. I only have 2 left and am offering them as an add on to a Weavers kit if you feel it would serve you.
Yarns included, as well as their symbolic intention;
- naturally dyed uk Woollen thread using ‘Woad’ leaf (water, protection, warrioress)
-naturally dyed uk Wensleydale locks using ‘Madder’ root (fire, femininity, wildness)
- Pure Flax thread from Poland (ancestral connection, resilience, strength)
- Pure Shetland yarn grown and milled on the Isle of Shetland, Scotland (Selkie, cloud, wild land)
- Wool & Flax blended yarn (Union, simplicity, hope)
- Black Welsh mountain (nurture, soil, soul)
This loom can create a cloth that is approximately 16cm wide and 19cm long.
