Our Woven Kin; Online Womb Wrap Making Journey
Warp and weft
Spin together our dreams,
Hold steadfast our hearts,
Create landscapes of beauty and listening.
Together we create;
Spiralling threads of joy,
Cocooning textiles that become places of warmth, protection, healing and sanctuary.
This cloth calls us Home
This cloth calls us Here.
This cloth calls us Now.
After 7 years apprenticing myself to the Rigid Heddle Loom and over 4 years of guiding people to create their own Womb Wraps, I am pleased to offer a four part online journey centered around the Ritual of Warping and Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom to create your own Womb Wrap.
Our time together will fuse the practical and the magical elements of working with the cherished Rigid Heddle Loom and the sacred space of the Womb, or ‘Lower Cauldron’.
These sessions will be a merging of cultivating symbolism and meaning, alongside the development and deepening of technical skill.
Our time together will consist of;
- grounding, embodiment and visualisation
- rituals of intention setting, thread magic and cultivating ceremonial craft techniques
- sharing circles
- Weaving, Womb and Spinning stories and poetry
- practical and technical advise on how to approach the Rigid Heddle Loom with ease and cultivate a clear connection with this tool
- advise and guidance on working with a drop spindle
- guidance through the 4 seasons of Birthing Cloth
- suggestions on natural dye and medicinal dying techniques
This journey is open for all, whatever stage in life, with or without a physical womb space, menstruating or post menopausal, beginner or experienced Weaver.
As our focus will be to meet with the potency of weaving for our bodies, to offer reverence to the earth, to connect in community with space to share and reflect on our experience of how the craft is touching our lives.
We will learn about my approach to each aspect of creating cloth and how this can bring us into closer connection to the cycles and seasons of our bodies, the earth and the universe.
For this series of sessions you will need;
- A Rigid Heddle Loom of any size
- A drop spindle
- yarn to warp with
- yarn to weave with
- fibre to spin with
- warping tools (these come with a standard rigid heddle kit from Ashford)
Please contact me directly if you require advice on where to buy any of these tools.
This series is limited to 15 places.
