Made to Order: Mugwort Dreaming

This is an offering to create you a bespoke shawl inspired by the essence of Mugwort. Basing my design on the wild greys and greens of mugwort, and my connection and medicinal relationship with the plant, I offer these textiles in homage to this powerful plant Kin.

These pieces are made in devotion to the spirit of Mugwort- a potent hedgerow herb found over the world. If you work with mugwort, you will have devolved your own unique relationship with them.

For me, she has become a powerful guide- supporting me in my birth, with my menstrual cycle and aiding the depth of my dreaming at night. I find her form so beautiful, and feel a strong connection to the Goddess and Divine Feminine principles when working with her.

Using an alchemical mixture of homegrown Mugwort and spring water from across the valley, I dye threads that journey through the Warp as a way to encapsulate the essence of this sacred plant and imbue her energy throughout the piece. Every stroke of the shuttle passed through the silver-green of Mugwort.

Every fibre spun in this shawl has been created in devotion to Earths dreaming, and aims to cocoon its Wearer in the dreaming, nurturing and generous holding of Mugwort.

The main form of the shawl will be conjured from a carefully selected mixture of British Wools, ethical silks and Alpaca. The warp thread is wool from the Shetland Islands. The warp is made from wool from Sheep who live on the Shetland Islands and this colour way is called ‘Sheala’ which can be translated to ‘Shining One’.

Each piece comes with a hand carved Devon Oak shawl pin crafted bespokely for the piece by my Partner Jules. There is the option to buy a bespoke mugwort shawl pin that will be crafted in the shape of a mugwort leaf.
