Herbs are doorways. They connect us to the miracle of Life.

When working with plants from a place that is rooted in symbiosis and reciprocity, the inherent interconnection between Earths species is illuminated.

When our approach to the use of herbs is held with compassion and in reverence to their animacy, a space for the deepening of right relationship becomes unveiled.

Plants have been recognised to hold multi-faceted healing properties since the dawn of our first ancestors.

Their root systems tell us of the power of Earths seasons, elements and patterns.

Their flora and fauna inspire us, soothe us and combine with us daily in a multitude of ways.

All plants are intuitive, sentient and highly intelligent fellow wanderers through this Life.

We can call upon specific herbs to explore ally-ship and invite a practical guardian to support us through the varied journey of existence.

This leads me to formally introduce a branch of my commission practice, and indeed highlight the presence of a strong thread in my creative process which is the incorporation of plant use to support and inspire my work.

Whilst herbs have been an influence since the start of my woven practise, I feel that offering the distilled essence of one plant within a piece helps to refine this sense of herb collaboration.

Over the years I have deepened into the practise of naturally dying wool and threads with individual plants and a mixture of what the hedgerow has to offer. I do this from a place of honouring the plant realm and respecting the precious herbal kin who adorn the land so generously.

And so I offer the option for you to choose one plant from my list of 10 that you wish to be imbued within your textile in order to enrich its meaning and medicine within your life. I will then work with your chosen plant in my natural dye process and varied ritualised ways that surround the spinning wheel and loom.

This feels like a potent way to co-create an heirloom textile that has been spun with threads of meaning, symbolism and unique power.

After you have placed your order, you will receive an email with additional questions to support the making of your piece. The cloth may still have other strands of intention, but the chosen herb will become a key thread that will walk through the entire essence of your womb belt or shawl.

On a practical note, if you select a womb belt commission I will get in contact to confirm the length you desire. Herbal Blanket commissions are available upon request. Payment plans and part exchanges are welcome- please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

- In reverence to Life and in devotion to Hope and the bright future, Rosemary-
